This is a Seeburg DS-160, produced in 1962 playing 160 selections of 45 rpm records.  This jukebox was totally broke down, mechanism removed, degreased, cleaned and lubricated.  The cabinet definitely needed some work as it had been repainted in the solid black color at one point during it’s life.  The Seeburg emblem on the side was painted over.  Once everything was removed from the cabinet, the cabinet was repainted in the original colors and design.  The emblem on the side was going to pose a problem as there weren’t any reproduction emblems available.  I called a friend of mine Dave in Canada who operates a jukebox route for some assistance with the emblem.  We then designed an image from pictures and measuring.  I then took the image to a vinyl sign shop in which they were able to reproduce these emblems that looked fantastic.

The  “ear” speakers on the side were still intact which was incredible as on most machines they are removed or broken.  The beautiful graphics on the glass around the title strips had flaked off throughout the years.  Again, thanks to my friend Dave, he brought a beautiful reproduction of this glass he had made several years ago.  After a ton of cleaning, polishing and buffing, the jukebox was becoming a wonderful looking machine.  The amplifier was rebuilt with new capacitors and we still were not able to get a good quality sound out of the machine.  Dave brought up another DS-160 amplifier so we could test it in the machine and it was of course one of the resistors acting up.  It was replaced and suddenly good looks and good sound.

This jukebox has since been sold and is no longer in my possession.
