This is a Rockola 1434 Super Rocket Jukebox.  It was produced in 1952 and plays 50 selections of 78 rpm records.  This jukebox has the capability of playing both the A and B side of a record.  I would have to call this my favorite jukebox.  When this jukebox came to us, it was certainly a prime example of a jukebox in the rough.  Just about every part needed to have something done to it.  The mechanism was removed, degreased, cleaned and lubricated.  The inside of the cabinet was painted the bright green color it was originally (ok, maybe it’s a little brighter).  The cabinet was stained a dark mahogany with a satin finish over it.  The selection buttons needed to be removed and de-grimed.  The board was painted green hammer tone.  The plastic trim pieces on the side of the selection board were broken and needed to be repaired with fiberglass then repainted a forest green.  The front grill frame was originally a faux wood finish on the metal frame.  This was practically worn off so I was able to recreate the faux wood finish to match the cabinet.  Behind the mechanism is a board that should have green glitter on it, however my glitter was non-existent.  The panel was painted a dark maroon and fine kelly green glitter was glued onto the board.  It was then covered in clear coat to stop the glitter from falling off.  The buttons were so nasty that it was hard to tell which were green and which were red.  They were cleaned, then polished and look incredible.   I reproduced the colored sheets in the pilasters and dome.  The chrome strips were missing on the side and front which I think is very typical of the Super Rocket.  I reproduced the trim out of car trim and it looks fantastic.  Most of the mechanism parts (except the trays) were sent out for rechroming.  The amplifier was rebuilt, the idler wheel needed to be rebuilt,  and the speaker coil needed to be redone.  An incredible amount of work has gone into this jukebox but it has been worth every minute.
